Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about LectiGuide.

Getting Started
What is LectiGuide?

LectiGuide is an AI-powered study tool built specifically for healthcare students. You upload your professor's lecture recording and course materials, and LectiGuide generates a complete study guide answering every learning objective — from the lecture audio, your uploaded slides, and your listed textbook.

Every answer comes from your professor's content, not generic internet sources. Built by a respiratory therapy student who needed it.

Is LectiGuide free?

Yes — you get 3 free study guides to start, then 1 free generation per day. No credit card required to try it.

For unlimited access, Pro Monthly is $39.99/month or $249/year. Daily Pass ($6.99) and Weekly Pass ($14.99) are available for exam week access.

What programs is LectiGuide designed for?

LectiGuide works for any healthcare or allied health program with professor-specific learning objectives and a licensing exam:

  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Nursing (RN, LPN, BSN)
  • Radiologic Technology
  • Veterinary Technology
  • Physical Therapy Assistant
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Surgical Technology
  • Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Emergency Medical Technology / Paramedic
  • Dental Hygiene
  • And more
How long does it take to generate a study guide?

Typically 3–8 minutes depending on the number of objectives and the length of your recording. Transcription takes 1–3 minutes, then generation takes 2–5 minutes. Keep the app open and your screen on during generation.

Audio and Files
What audio formats are supported?

Supported formats: MP3, WAV, M4A (iPhone Voice Memos), WebM, OGG, and FLAC. Maximum file size is 200MB per file.

iPhone Voice Memos work directly — open your Files app and upload the .m4a recording.

Is my audio recording stored or shared?

No. Audio recordings are uploaded to encrypted storage, transcribed, and permanently deleted immediately after transcription — typically within 5 minutes. We do not retain, archive, or share your audio recordings.

The only record that persists is the text transcript, stored privately in your account. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I upload PowerPoint files?

Yes — .pptx files are fully supported on desktop and mobile. Upload directly from your Files app on iPhone.

Old-format .ppt files cannot be read on mobile. Open the file in PowerPoint or Google Slides and export as PDF, then upload the PDF.

My professor sends scanned PDF handouts. Will those work?

Scanned PDFs (photos of pages) cannot have text extracted in a browser. LectiGuide will notify you and use your audio transcript instead.

If your professor has a digital version of the handout, ask them to share it as a text-based PDF — this usually means exporting from Word or PowerPoint rather than scanning a printout.

Study Guide Quality
Why does my textbook answer say "Not found"?

This usually means the textbook title was not entered clearly, or the chapter specified does not match where the content actually appears. LectiGuide will answer from the full textbook even if the chapter is wrong — it never uses "not found" just because the chapter number does not match.

Make sure the textbook title is entered correctly. You do not need to specify a chapter — LectiGuide answers from the complete textbook if no chapter is listed.

Can LectiGuide answer objectives not covered in the lecture?

Yes. If an objective is not covered in the lecture audio or uploaded materials, LectiGuide answers from established clinical knowledge and your listed textbook. It never says "not found" — it always provides the complete clinical answer the student needs.

Are AI-generated answers accurate?

LectiGuide answers from your professor's materials and your listed textbook — this anchors answers to vetted educational content rather than random internet sources. However, AI can make errors. Always verify clinical information against your textbook and your professor's instruction, especially for patient care decisions.

LectiGuide is an educational study tool, not a substitute for clinical judgment.

Privacy and Data
Is LectiGuide FERPA compliant?

Yes. LectiGuide is designed to support FERPA compliance for educational institutions. Student education records are treated as confidential, stored with encryption, and never shared with third parties without consent. A full FERPA Data Processing Agreement is available for institutional accounts — contact hello@lectiguide.com.

Is my study guide content used to train AI models?

No. Your course materials, audio recordings, and study guide content are used solely to generate your personal study materials. We do not use your content to train AI models.

How long are my study sessions saved?

Indefinitely. Your study sessions are saved permanently to your account. When your course portal closes at the end of the semester, LectiGuide still has everything your professor taught — accessible from any device, any time. Your semester one pharmacology session is still there when you sit for boards two years later.

Subscriptions and Pricing
